Week 15:
Judging
Week 15:
Judging
Thursday, March 10, 2011
“It should be clear that God is the judge of mankind, and not us. When our own lives become the focus of our own judgment, we begin to reflect the character of Christ living in us.”
We live at time when judging is an enormous cultural issue. Pronouncing that another person’s actions or attitudes are sinful seems to have been added to an imaginary list of cardinal sins. So what is the deal with judging others? And why does Jesus here seem to agree with this cultural sentiment of “live and let live?” As we unpack the content of this oft-quoted section in Matthew 7:1-6, Mr. Tom Burns, Worthington Christian High School Bible Teacher will beg us to leave the judging to God, except under one crucial set of circumstances.
